What changed in March 2025

On March 4, 2025, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for PC. It brings the improvements of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version to PC, such as ray-traced shadows and reflections, faster loading on SSDs and DualSense controller support. If you already owned GTA V on PC, you got Enhanced at no extra cost.

The original PC version didn’t go away. It’s now called GTA V Legacy and stays available as a separate game, with its own install. If your PC doesn’t meet Enhanced’s requirements, you can keep playing Legacy.

Rockstar also lets you move your Story Mode save and your GTA Online profile from Legacy to Enhanced, one time. Once your GTA Online profile has moved, progress no longer syncs between the two editions.

For mod menus, this matters because Legacy and Enhanced are two different builds of the game. A menu built for one may not load on the other, which is why developers say which edition they support.

How to tell which edition you play

  • Look at the name in your game library. On Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Games Launcher, the two editions show up as separate games, with Enhanced or Legacy in the name.
  • Have both installed? The edition that counts is the one you launch when you play.
  • Moved your GTA Online character to Enhanced? Then Enhanced is where you play now, and your menu has to support it.

One key for both editions?

It depends on the menu, and the product page tells you:

  • Raiden is the clearest case: the same key works on GTA V Legacy and GTA V Enhanced, at no extra cost. Raiden Standard is € 4.99, for life.
  • Ethereal sells a separate plan for each edition. Lifetime is € 33.99 for Legacy and € 39.99 for Enhanced, and a month costs € 13.99 or € 14.99. Pick the plan for the edition you play.
  • NewWay sells two GTA V editions: Premium, for Legacy and Enhanced, and BattlEye On, for public lobbies on Enhanced with BattlEye left on.
  • Midnight sells FSL and BE plans, and each one covers GTA V Legacy and Enhanced.
  • Cherax, Nenyooo, Sylent, 0xCheats, Lexis, X-Force, Atlas, Scooby and Nexoria support both editions, and you don’t choose an edition when you buy.

Playing Enhanced with BattlEye on

GTA Online on PC runs the BattlEye anti-cheat. The menus or plans made to run with it switched on are Cherax Prime, Nenyooo Premium, Jupiter, Tsumi, Yari, Atlas VIP, Scooby Premium Plus, X-Force with its Ace add-on, NewWay’s BattlEye On plans, Midnight’s 30 Days BE plan and Nexoria’s 1 Month BE plan, and Lexis, Ethereal and 0xCheats work with it too. Jupiter, Tsumi, Yari and NewWay’s BattlEye On plans are for Enhanced only. Stand, Sylent, Nenyooo Standard, Atlas Standard, Scooby Premium, NewWay Premium and X-Force Essential are made for sessions with BattlEye off. A straight word on bans. On either edition, using a mod menu in GTA Online breaks Rockstar’s terms and can get your account banned, whatever the menu or plan. Nobody can honestly promise you won’t be banned, and we don’t.

Moving from Legacy to Enhanced?

If you move your game, or your GTA Online character, to Enhanced, check your menu before you play:

  • Stand stays on Legacy. On Enhanced you’ll need another menu, such as Cherax, Nenyooo or Raiden, or one built for Enhanced like Jupiter, Tsumi or Yari. Our Cherax vs Stand comparison looks at the two side by side.
  • Ethereal sells a plan per edition: a Legacy plan is for Legacy, so for Enhanced pick an Enhanced plan.
  • Menus that support both keep working: you just play the edition you prefer.

Frequently asked questions

Is GTA V Enhanced free?

If you own GTA V on PC, yes. Rockstar gave GTA V Enhanced to PC owners at no extra cost. It installs as a separate game, and GTA V Legacy stays available.

Does Stand work on GTA V Enhanced?

No. Stand supports GTA V Legacy only, in solo sessions with BattlEye off. On Enhanced, look at a menu that supports it, such as Cherax, Nenyooo or Raiden, or one built for Enhanced like Jupiter, Tsumi or Yari.

Which mod menus work on both Legacy and Enhanced?

Cherax (every tier, Prime included), Nenyooo, Raiden, Sylent, 0xCheats, NewWay Premium, Lexis, X-Force, Atlas, Scooby, Midnight and Nexoria, plus SpectraX, the Lua script for Lexis. Ethereal covers both editions too, with a separate plan for each.

Do I need a separate key for each edition?

It depends on the menu. A Raiden key works on both editions. Ethereal sells separate Legacy and Enhanced plans. For any other menu, check its product page or ask us on Discord.

Can I move my GTA Online character from Legacy to Enhanced?

Yes, one time. Rockstar lets you migrate your Story Mode save and your GTA Online profile from Legacy to Enhanced on PC. After the migration, GTA Online progress no longer syncs between the two editions.
